
Director for TV, Film, Games and Interactivity
John is an impassioned, energetic and collaborative film maker working across digital and traditional media.
His work in Television includes SILENT WITNESS (BBC), WOLFBLOOD (CBBC/ZDF), CASUALTY & EASTENDERS for BBC1, JINX (Nickelodeon), MAKE MY DAY (Channel 4), THE BILL (Thames/ITV), and GRANGE HILL & HOME FARM TWINS for CBBC.
Since 2007, John has also been working in Games and Interactivity. He is currently working in USA and UK as director for Rockstar games on an NDA project.
Recent credits include GRAND THEFT AUTO V Online (Rockstar), Cinematics Director on SPACE MARINE 2 (for Saber interactive/Games Workshop/Focus Entertainment) – released September 2024 & a NDA project with Realtime/Codemasters.
He is currently working with other major Games Developers on existing franchises. Past Game credits include Cinematics Performance Director on FORMULA 1 2023 (Realtime/Codemasters/EA), Cinematics Director with Supermassive Games on an NDA project, Motion Capture & voice Director on MILO & KATE (Lionhead/Microsoft), Cutscene Director on 007 LEGENDS (EON/Activision/Eurocom) and numerous other projects as Voice Director. He was drama Director for the on-line interactive video for BBC Switch astrological thriller SIGNS OF LIFE.
An experienced film director, John’s films have been shown at over 60 Film Festivals Worldwide and have won numerous awards including Best Short Film at Cannes Short Film festival for THE DAY AFTER STONEWALL DIED, Best Short Film at St Albans Film festival for KAYLA, Young Leopard of Tomorrow Award at Locarno Film Festival for ELECRIC FRANK and Gold Plaques at Chicago Film festival for both THE SECRET SONGS OF BUTTERFISH and BROKEN ARROW. He is currently in pre-production on a short film BLOWAWAYS using AI post production and is developing a drama feature film.
One of the leaders in his field, John is co-founder of the training and consultancy company www.themocapvaults.com which aims to improve performance quality in Motion captured animation and works all over the world. He is co-author of Performing for Motion Capture – a Guide for Practitioners published by Methuen Drama. He has taught at numerous Film Schools and Drama Schools including NFTS, East 15 Acting School, MET Film School, Ohio University, Centro Mexico City & Luleå University of technology, Sweden.
John is a full member of Directors UK, is a Trustee of the Directors Charitable Foundation (DCF).
